The Goldfinch is a 2019 American drama film. The film is directed by John Crowley and produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and written by Peter Straughan. This movie is based on the 2013 novel "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt. The movie is the story of "Theo" Decker was 13 when his mother died in an attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This tragedy changes the course of his life and plunges into a heartbreaking odyssey of pain and guilt, reinvention and redemption, and also of love. Goldfinch will launch on September 13, 2019.

History of the film: Theo Decker (Ansel Elgort) is a young man who survives a terrorist attack in New York, but lost his mother's life in that attack. After the attack ends with the possession of a very expensive work of art from the New York Metropolitan Museum, a painting called 'Goldfinch' by the artist Carel Fabritius. After his mother's death, he goes to live with a rich but complex family from the Upper East Side. The work of art will be the last connection he has with his mother, but it also becomes an element that complicates his journey from adolescence to adulthood.
